The payoff

In the last 6 months, Dave and I have started a cash-only lifestyle. (Yeah, Dave Ramsey got to us too!) Boy, have things been tight! It has been really tough, especially for me. I am an instant-gratification person, if I want something, I want it now! But, that attitude led to a pretty high credit card debt. So, we're hacking away at it, bit by bit. Now, anytime I want something I have to wait and wait and wait some more.
An interesting thing just happened though. I have wanted this new backpack for months. I need something comfortable to carry my laptop in, since I schlep that thing everywhere. A friend had given me a really cool bag, and it is great, just too big. But, I gladly carried that laptop in it, until I had the cash to pay for the new backpack. I did a speaking engagement yesterday for a MOPS group, and got handed a check for the effort.

It felt so great, no, euphoric to go to the Outpost, hand them real money for something I have wanted for so long. And I'll bet I will enjoy that backpack for a long time to come.

How funny! We're on the Dave Ramsey Diet too! At least we try to be. It's tough though when you find those really cute shoes or bag on sale and you have a coupon! But I agree with you, you're going to love that bag even more now. I felt that way when we paid off my car....that little beat-up VW felt like a brand new BMW when I drove it after it was paid off! Enjoy the new bag!

We have been a "cash only family" for a while now. It has been tough, but rewarding seeing that awful credit card debt, slowly dwindle down to just one, and soon to be paid off!

It does take longer to get things I "want", but I appreciate them all the more!

Enjoy your new backpack!!
