Ceci, You are among the 90% of moms who "can not get it together"...the other 10%...well, good for them (I guess we need that 10% "got it all together" to make up for the rest of us-ha!)
Oh, I got a call from school this morning as my little son and I were 'snuggling on the couch'- yeah, I was trying to catch a quick nap :). The lady on the phone say: "Yes, we have your son marked as absent today..." Oh yeah, I forgot it was my son's day for Kindergarden. Go me. He is my third child too- you would think I would have it by now.
Its crazy! I so know what you mean. I have 4 kids. At one time they were in 3 different schools, (elementary, middle and High)so all different schedules, including the fact that they all had different 1/2 days and days off. I finally committed to a calendar on the fridge. My favorite idea I heard somewhere along the line is I have a file folder for each kid. I put a note on the day of the event on the calendar block, then put the sign up sheet with all the details of the event, including do they need a packed lunch, money, where they are going. I have an open file box on the counter, I don't have the files fancy or color coded or organized, I just know if it is an event for Olivia, I pull out her file and the sheet is there. I have done this for 4 years now and it really works for me. Sunday I try to take a look at the week ahead and plan. But no matter what "system" you have, you will forget...it just happens. Life is busy. Hope this helps.
I tried to select "blue" for my three year olds background, but noticed that his teacher had put a giant X thru the choices, so we'd know that they can only order that lovely seven dollar class photo. I would have been in the same boat, if not for the teacher. Then he gave me a "demo" of how he smiled today , so I'm thankful that we're only allowed a class photo now.
ha ha! i laughed so hard when you said "just leave the socks there for the year." i think that's a great plan. :)
i only send my kids to school out of the home one day a week and i can't even get it together for that! talk about feeling like a loser mom! (let's start a club, shall we?) :)
oh my goodness...great impression of the "way too together" mom ceci!!! hahaha If your kids go to school , you will all definitely run across the perfect mom at some point! SICKENING! :) do not feel too bad, everyone has those crazy days where nothing goes right, you cant keep your own head on straight not to mention keeping everyone elses schedule in your household! Its just too hard! haha funny funny funny stuff today....your just a typical mom girls...oh and for the calendar...I keep a really cool yearly calendar on my counter at home and have for many years...it's honestly my lifeline for every move I make....my kids know to go to moms calendar for things, or to write stuff in there for me...school conferences...days off, picture day:) when certain bills are due...you name it...I will get you one if you want...I get them free. and since it's a book I can take it with me...and sit at the kitchen table...and go through it if need be. have a good week:) Heather x
reminds me of my parents when I was growing up!! When I was in high school and they were forgetting stuff and events, I'd threaten to enroll them in a "get your stuff together" class :) Don't you as broadcasters have to plan ahead in your daily work, like what you'll talk about on air...getting the next program element ready, running the board, etc? Funny how we can be prepared in one area of life, but not in another...happens to all of us I suppose!
