Always a day late and a dollar short

I just found out that signups for youth soccer were in like, January. So my friend is over this week and talking about her daughter starting practice next, and I ask her when the signups were, to which she just started laughing. But my friend assured me that they were still looking for some kids, so I called the township office and there was already a waiting list going! She told me to come over there in person and fill about the application...so I pulled up to soccer fields and Elliana starts saying, "Mom...is this where I get to play SOCCER? I just LOVE SOCCER!!!" I tried to explain to her what a waiting list is, but she really didn't understand.

Poor kid, she got "that Mom"...the one who is always a day late and a dollar short.

I actually did this with preschool sign-ups! Thankfully it was just 3-school, so far I'm on the ball for 4 year old preschool, but it's all new when it's your first child. I'm probably too late for the swimming lesson sign-ups too.

Not to burst your bubble but I believe you have to be 5 to play soccer. My daughter won't be 5 until June, she can't play.

Just came across your blog. I am also married to Dave LaBarge-- but we live in NY. Curious as to where your husband's family is from? Sounds like we might have a bit in common!! Jesus, kids, media, husbands named Dave...:)

Oh, just realized that you are the LaBarge! That's cool- perhaps you are related to my Dave. Anyway, perhaps we can connect!
