Here we are, about half way through the project. The tile is up, the wires are pulled for the under cabinet lighting, and the 2 cabinets along the back are removed. We are putting in (gasp!) open shelves where the cabinets used to be. My mother gave me a stern warning about dusting...I know, I know. But it's going to look great. And in another shocking move...I have decided AGAINST painting the maple cabinets! I was going to paint them white, for an authentic cottage feel, but after looking at them with a fresh perspective, I decided I like them a lot the way they are. And my husband likes me a lot better now too, as he doesn't need to spend his whole holiday weekend painting cabinets. I did make him make a trade, however, and now he has agreed to paint the entire first floor for me. I mean, you can't have a bright shiny new kitchen and old dinged up walls!
The project should be finished next week, I made a few last minute changes, so I'll post more pictures later.

It looks great Ceci!
It is really looking amazing. I think the cabinets look great the color they are and I would agree with your decision. How fun! Good luck with the project :)
Is that subway tile? I like it.
