The couch project!

Remember this old couch I found on the side of the road this summer?

It took up most of my garage this summer...til finally I couldn't stand its ugliness any longer.

With the help of my very talented mother, who showed me how to re-upholster, here is my new-old couch!

Here is the back, which is just as cool as the front, because that is what you see when you walk in my house.

I have never been more excited or proud to show you one of my projects. It turned out just as I had hoped, and even though it took many hours of hard work, the end result is completely satisfying. I certainly cant take all the credit though, my mother, Jackie, is the brains behind this operation! Martha Stewart's got nothing on her...she upholsters, does beautiful drapery's, and over Christmas she even made bears out of favorite shirts from a man who had passed away, so his wife could give them as gifts to her grandchildren. Those were awesome! Our big thing now is making fabric-covered headboards. Yes, I know...you all want her number. You can email me at ceci@jq99.com for her info.

Anyway, the couch is cool, right? I just love the fabric, it's so "me". And I love my husband who sold a really nice golf club on ebay to help pay for it. Good thing he really enjoys napping on it.
Oh, and if you're wondering what I'm up to next (with Moms help, of course)...upholstering the matching chair!

The fabric is beautiful! Do you do something to "treat" the old couch to kill off ancient germs? Or is it sooo stripped that nothing is left but the springs and frame? Your mom is super talented!

I love the couch. My sister had an old chair that I wanted to recover, but I knew that I would never get around to doing anything with it, so I let her give it to goodwill. You did an amazing job.

God Bless,
