Waterfront Film Festival

Life is wierd sometimes. This weekend I had one of those experiences where I felt like I was living someone else's life. A few weeks ago I was asked to be in a short film project that was to be played at the Waterfront Film Festival. I went ahead with it and after the filming I figured I totally bombed at the shoot. Last week, one of the founders of the Film Festival, Hopwood DePree, who was the client for this short film and also in part of it with me, asked me to moderate a few of the breakout sessions at the Festival. It was a great opportunity to go to Saugatuck this weekend a be a part of the Festival and also check out the trailer I was in on the big screen. I had no idea this short clip (called a trailer) was going to be played at the beginning of EVERY MOVIE!
So, all weekend I was being recognized...because anyone who happened to see a movie happened to see me as well. I got a lot of really great feedback, (I guess I didn't bomb after all!) and some wierd comments too. One guy told me to my face, "wow! your're really thin-- in person. I guess the camera really does add ten pounds!" The Commisioner of the Michigan Film Office told me I did a great job in the trailers, but on camera I look much older than I really am. When she ran into me in person, she said she wasn't sure if it was me...or my daughter! Um...thanks for the compliment, I guess.
Anyway, it was a really fun experience, and really different to be recognized for something outside of radio broadcasting. But, I am happy to back today in the "real world" sitting behind my microphone, because in the end, the microphone neither adds on ten pounds nor twenty years!

I don't have the rights to it. The clients do, and I don't have permission to use it. Sorry.

That is hilarious. You wonder what people are thinking when they say things sometimes. I never like it when people think my mom and I are sisters. It's not fine if you're the daughter--do they think I'm older or she's younger? I wish we could see your big debut on screen.
