I have been enjoying the debate about puking in toilets. I'd personally throw up at the thought of re-using a pot or pan my kid had puked in....I think that's much grosser than throwing up in a toilet.

Cleaning puke from a pan is not as bad as cleaning a dirty diaper! Have an old plastic bowl and throw it away after it's use.
I didn't know people felt so strongly about placement of puke either! I thought the goal was always the toilet, but have one of those hospital pink bins (they give you to wash your baby with after you leave the hospital) handy for children who might not make it. Oh the controversy!
