Have you ever...

Locked yourself in the bathroom, with the express purpose of getting away from your children? This is exactly what happened yesterday. The day went something like this: "MOM! MOM! MOM! MOM! MOM, CAN I PLAY COMPUTER GAMES?" "No", I kindly replied. "MOM...PLEASE????????" Again, "no, Ellie...play with your sister." "BUT MOM I'M BORED. THERE'S NOTHING TO DO. CAN I PLEASE PLAY COMPUTER GAMES? "No, Ellie.' MOM CAN I HAVE A HERSHEY'S KISS? "No." "MOM PLEEEEESE. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO EAT!" MOM! MOM! MOOOOOOOOOOOM...

And on and on and on...

I was in no mood for that yesterday. I'm still completely exhausted from the wedding this weekend, and I--to say the least--was on a short fuse. Dave called (while I was crying in the bathroom) and asked to talk to Ellie, you know, to try to "reason" with her into listening and obeying. Then she actually yelled at him through the phone, which he, of course, reprimanded her for. Then she said something that still gives me a pang in my gut, "but that's how Mommy's been talkin to me all day."

Monkey See. Monkey Do.

This just the type of story I need to hear with my wife due next week with our first child.

Hang in there.

Try to stay positive. At least you have a lock on the bathroom door. :)

My issue is similar. You know, when you have kids, you lose all rights to privacy on any level... even when you're in the bathroom. I think that when I build a house some day, I'm going to have to put two swinging doors in the bathroom, like in a restaurant kitchen. That way, when my kids are all coming in and out to ask me silly questions and tattle on one another, at least the traffic will flow smoothly.

Oh Ceci, I feel your pain. We all have those not-so-great days where we just really have to look forward to tomorrow's fresh start. I hope things are going better now!
