Today is Mom's birthday. I am making her a "Miami Beach Birthday Cake." It's her favorite cake, so I started making her one for each birthday a few years ago. The first one burned and fell apart, but I've improved a little bit over the years. Want to know something funny? Before I made that cake, I didn't know that you could make a cake from scratch. I thought they came from cake mix boxes!
