My Favorite Holiday

I just love Thanksgiving. I was reflecting this weekend as to why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I think it is because the only thing you're supposed to do is get together with your family and share a meal together. You don't have to buy anybody anything (unless you're related to me, as my birthday falls on Thanksgiving every 6 or 7 years.) Typically, the meal gets split up and everyone brings something to bring to the table. In my family, the food is always the same. Turkey, and someone usually makes a few chickens too! Stuffing (which I don't eat unless my Mom assures me it's the fake kind, without the actual innards!). Green Bean casserole. Mashed potatoes. (This is my favorite, although no-one can really replicate my Dad's mashed potatoes...He uses more butter than one probally should, but oh are they delish!) Deviled Eggs (use the recipe from the Betty Crocker Cook Book!) Potato Rolls. Apple Pie.

My mouth is watering just thinking about it. And then the Lions game will be on and all my uncles, especially uncle Larry and uncle Rick will be yelling at the TV like they always do. "Insert-name-of-current-coach-here...You're such an idiot!" And then they'll give anyone who'll listen, and even those who are trying not to, their opinion on how they'd coach the team. Uncle Larry will say the same thing he does every year..."Hey Cec...How are things in Holland?" As if anything terribly exciting ever happens in Holland.

Oh I just love it.

Let's Connect!

Ahh, yes, the only holiday where you eat yourself into an oblivion and then it is mandated that you endulge yourself in laziness. It could only be better if tiny little elves came along and massaged my feet after the big meal! Woo Hoo! I'm getting my extra stretchy pants ready just thinking about all that yummy goodness! I think my favorite part of the holiday is that I get to pick at the turkey the entire day after the meal, as if to think that my stomach might be getting a tad bit empty and it is my resposibility to keep it full at all times! All that to say....Happy Thanksgiving Cec!

Unfortunately the Lions game is getting pre-empted by the Cowboys game this year for me. Perhaps next year I'll make it back for some mashed potatoes and Uncle Larry Commentary. :)
