Yesterday I tried to introduce a new food for lunch to my 4 year old and 17 month old. They love pasta, and they love mashed potatoes, so, I thought Perogies would be perfect. They're a combination of pasta and potatoes! The 4 year old started sobbing, because she didn't want to try anything new for lunch.
I told her that it was unacceptable to cry over food. I just cant stand that. Maybe I should stop watching Oprah, it seems like once a week she's highlighting the poor in Africa. Monday's episode was about a woman who carried 20 pounds of beans up a 2 mile hill, so she could make 25 cents, to try to feed her family.
Anyway, I told Ellie that she may cry if she's hurt, and she may cry if she's disappointed...But she may NOT cry over food.
She looked at me with elephant tears running down her face and said, Mom...I'm disappointed about something. What, I asked? "I'm disappointed about what we're having for lunch!"
Let's connect!

That story reminds me of my sister when we were younger. To this day, she is still the pickiest eater I know! She spent many a night sitting for long hours at the dinner table after the rest of us were done.(We couldn't leave the table till we had cleared our plates!)
