An update of sorts...

Our House has been for sale for over a year. I've mentioned it a few times on the blog. It is becoming a game with my husband Dave and I to see if we can guess what the house-lookers have to say about our little house, after they tour it. Neither of us guessed that the folks who toured it last week Saturday (remember the "highlighter-yellow" chairs?) would tell our realtor that there just wasn't enough room for their boat anywhere on the property. After all, this was the second time they came by, and a second showing warrants a detailed and thorough cleaning of the place. Which requires practically locking the kids in the basement with several movies, so they don't mess anything up. No, I'm not bitter that we spent six hours that day furiously cleaning, when in the end, the people didn't notice on their first visit that there wasn't enough room for their boat!

No problem...There were 3 more showings last week to look forward to. The people that came by on Tuesday "loved it", but in the end, made an offer down the street on a fixer upper. Did they think that a 3 year old house needs "fixing up?"

Never heard a report on the couple who came through on Friday night, but I'm guessing the offer will be coming in any time now. Ha.

And the family who toured it on Saturday (love those Saturday showings...Nothing more fun than spending a rare day off cleaning!) said the living room wasn't big enough for entertaining...Which there is some truth to.

We don't have any more house showings scheduled this week, but I will happily update you when I do, we can all make a game of it!

Let's Connect!

I feel your pain!! We have had our home up for sale about 4 months now but we already bought another house- ekk!
We had a couple come through 3 times then change their mind- they didn't want to move after all.
Another couple came through twice but the second time, they didn't like the basement trim.
Never heard back on the last showing which was extra fun when they call the day before you are leaving for backpacking :) Getting 3 kids ready for 3 nights of sleepovers and getting ready to go backpacking- sure, you can see the house no problem at all! :)

Oh no! The whole process is enough to drive you crazy! One time, an out of town couple wanted to know if we'd sell the house fully furnished. So we went through pricing everything, half of which wasn't ours to begin with. Basically, all of our worldly treasures only added up to about $3500.00, which we thought was a steal! Never heard back from the people either! At least we can laugh, or cry, about it together Gracie!

I hear you about having your house up for sale. We have had our house up for about 3 months. While also being 8 1/2 months pregnant for our 3rd!!! FUN TIMES!!!! A lot of showings but nothing has come out them. The famous one has been .."love the house but hate the neighborhood...". Or too we never hear from the family that comes in. Our realtor calls like 2-3 times to get any feedback and yet the other realtor never bothers to call back. I wish I could take all the realtors and give them a lesson on etiquette to call back whether good or bad. Just so you know something!! I just need to have patience! Knowing that God knows when it's going to happen and I have to let him take this over! I pray for patience for you and your family! It's such a huge roller coaster emotionally and physically!

Oh the joy I get to endure in a few weeks when we list ours. I am hoping ours sells as fast as my inlaws... theirs sold in one week! *shock*

Ceci,

I know just what you are going thru. Our house in Hudsonville has been on the market for over 18 months and has now just possibly sold. What a pain it has been to have that house ready while trying to build our other home in Allendale. I have trusted completely to sell our home, but sometimes I think he has tried my patient a bit too long. I have 4 kids two teenagers and two elementary aged kids. They have helped a lot with both houses.
The one thing that I don't like about the realtors, is that they make the appointment, but they never show up half the time with the people, because there are so many houses for sale out there. So be very careful when a buyer is putting a bid on your house they will bid a lot lower than your asking price. Which is usually how it works, but people are being ridiculous about what they are bidding. Don't be afraid to say no and counter offer at where you want to be. We have had a few do that to our Hudsonville house.
Be patient and be in prayer about the buyer that you want. Kim
