These ugly crocs...
This year on the first day of Spring, my sister and I brought our girls to the Outpost in Holland and celebrated the day by purchasing them those hideous and oh-so-popular rubber shoes, Crocs. I actually thought they were pretty cute at first, on my 3 year old anyway, and she thought they were the best things ever invented, shoes in her favorite color, purple! But then, she insisted on wearing them everyday, everywhere. They've been to the beach, to the mall, and to church.
I was so looking forward to buying her proper school shoes, like brown leather Mary Janes, or something preppy like that. But, as is a pattern in my life, I am apparently too late to get in on the good selection of shoes! Target was completely out of her size in the preppy brown leather shoe variety. Shoe Carnival had nothing left but cartoon-inspired kicks. I even went to the expensive store downtown, where they snootily told me her feet were just too narrow for their $45.00 shoes. For 45 bucks, you think they'd run in the back and re-sew them to fit narrow feet!
So, against my better judgement, we meandered a few doors down and checked out the fall selection...of Crocs. And there they were, brown Mary Jane-Style Crocs, in her size. And again, alas, I think they're pretty cute for now. By winter I'll have to get her some proper school boots...oh crap! Crocs makes boots too, don't they? Aaaahhhh.
